Military Wedding Cake Toppers

Military

If you're planning a military style wedding, aside from red, white and
blue, you might be seeking ideas regarding tradition and even some decorative
tips that will help you express your love for your country and for each
other.

While not all military personnel will choose to have a military  wedding,
those that do, have the opportunity to simultaneously demonstrate  loyalty
and pride for their country and love and  commitment to their future spouse.

Each branch of the armed forces has specific customs and rituals for a
military marriage.
A military wedding can only be held if the bride, groom, or both  are an
active or retired member of one of the military branches. While  military
weddings are usually held in a house of worship, they are  sometimes also held
at other venues or on base. If you're thinking of having the  wedding
conducted by a military officiant, there is usually no charge for  the service.

Traditions

You've probably seen the Arches Of Sabers on television. The arch is
symbolic in that it wishes the newlywed couple a safe passage into their new
life together and often is the highlight of the marriage ceremony. When the
ceremony is over, the ushers line up on both sides of the chapel steps and
perform the ritual. They then return their weapons to their side and escort
the  bridesmaids down the aisle.

Attire And Accessories

If the groom is a member of the military, he must wear his appropriate
military dress uniform. If the bride is in the service, she has her choice of
wearing either her military dress uniform or a traditional wedding gown.

Wedding Cake and The Cutting of the Cake

To top off the wedding cake - military style, there are  many military
wedding cake topper styles to choose from in both semi-custom  and custom
categories.
Whether the service be Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine  or Coast Guard, there
are toppers available for both the  bride and groom service personnel as
well as etched glass or acrylic  with the service emblem and the couple's
silhouette. Not only will a military  wedding cake topper be a symbol of your
personalities, love for each  other and love for your country, it will also be
a treasured keepsake for  many years to come.

When cutting the cake the saber or cutlass bearers enter the reception  and
stand in front of the wedding cake facing each other. The bride and groom
then walk beneath the sword/saber arch again. The groom hands his new bride
his unsheathed sword saber, and with his hands over hers, they cut their
first  piece of cake together.
